Alten is hiring a Contracts Manager, Asset Manager in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. 

About the job
The Commercial Contracts Manager will be responsible for providing world class support from tendering to final project completion, ensuring a balance of customer centricity and risk management. The Commercial Contracts Manager will support the growth of region both financially & in terms of capability by building the risk management mind-set within the broaden regional team & influencing change at the global level.

Essential Responsibilities
· Provide negotiations preparation and support to the Sales and Proposal teams, as well as Project Managers and other functions within the region
· Review, negotiation and approval of Non-Disclosure Agreements as necessary to support proposal efforts
· Ensure compliance with applicable in-house workflow and approval processes
· Provide review, analyse key issues, and assess risk in commercial contracts, developing mitigation strategies for negotiations and sometimes leading them in complex contracts
· Prepare persuasive positions for (and sometimes lead) complex contract negotiations for dispute resolution and change order requests with customers and suppliers
· Support the development and implementation of risk management processes and controls working with Project Management leadership
· Provide project summaries and guide Project Managers through successful project execution strategies in high risk projects
· Consult with the Legal Team as necessary to support contract negotiations and dispute resolution
· Teach contracts management skills to the Sales, Proposal and Project Management teams through on the job and formal training sessions
· Travel estimated at 10%, some international travel likely

Qualifications & Experience
· Degree with strong academic record – engineering, legal, business degrees with more than 10 years of commercial or transactional contract negotiation experience, or equivalent
· Fluency in English language (with French a plus) and the ability to draft and negotiate in them
· Ability to influence and persuade with experience of negotiations
· Proven Knowledge of legal terminology and concepts as used in commercial contracts
· Good verbal and written communications skills, including presentations to customers and VWTS team members
· Organized and self-motivated for success
· Demonstrated prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
· Ability to provide creative business-oriented advice in a global, fast-paced environment
· Experience in working in different cultures and environments
· Experience with direct customer contact and negotiations – written and verbal/presentation
· Experience working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders

Must Have
· Canadian or US working Experience of more than 10 years
· Permanent residency in Canada or USA
· Prior experience in a Contract Management “expert” role supporting a commercial or execution team
· Substantive knowledge of commercial contracts / Terms & Conditions (EJCDC and/or CCDC or equivalent) in North America
· Experience in Municipal or industrial Contracts (USA, Canada)
· Experience working with large Design-Build contractors, and EPC contractors
 
Desired
· General understanding of water treatment technologies and customer industries and operations
· Working knowledge of contract forms in international business
· Experience working with large Design-Build contractors (and contracts)
· Knowledge of US Government contracts (FAR)
