Continuous Improvement Specialist

Location: Cambridge, ON

Job Description:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for managing continuous improvement initiatives and technical writing support working both with the operations and the capital projects team.

Responsibilities
-Leads continuous improvement initiatives working side by side with cross-functional teams, initiatives can represent as cost savings initiatives and OEE Improvements, in support of meeting site objectives and other strategic objectives.
-Responsible of a portfolio of continuous improvement initiatives at different level of maturity from embryo/proof of concept to already established and part of the long term strategy.
-Utilizes continuous improvement tools and techniques, including lean, Six Sigma, PDCA, A3, Value stream mapping to assess, identify, plan, action and drive improvements through to completion.
-Participates and leads in the development of strategies and systems to ensure that all operations achieve quality, safety and production targets, minimizing scrap, and increase manufacturing efficiencies.
-Provides support and analytical tools to support internal Production projects and improvements.
-Manages the tracking and reporting of production metrics such as output, scrap, labour hours, to forecast/budget. -Reviews routings, BOM’s and master data.
-Contributes to all documentation flow for departmental and related activity in compliance with Regulatory Agencies, such as Health Canada, and FDA.
-Acts as catalyst to develop organizational Continuous Improvement mindset and behavior.
-Emphasize and leads the importance of mapping processes and workflows to identify opportunities of improvement and efficiencies through the streamlining or redesign of some processes/workflows.

Qualifications
-Degree in Sciences or Engineering
-Certification in lean or six sigma
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or a similar regulated environment.
-Excellent ability to handle and analyze data to extract meaningful recommendations, proficient level with tools like Excel, PowerBI or Minitab for example
-Experience leading continuous improvement projects from start to completion
-Excellent communication, both verbal and written to foster team engagement in identifying and implementing the opportunities of improvement
-Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel and conflicting priorities
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills
