Responsible for:
– revising our client’s DR program
– communicating with all the IT teams on expectations on DR recovery
– leading DR tests (coordinating with the appropriate teams) and documenting what does work and making sure DR plans are up to date on a annually basis and every time there is a change to the application
– looking at it from an organizational wide perspective (infras. team)
 
Key Must Have:
– understand how DR plans work and how they exist
– experienced with DR in both application and infrastructure
– excellent communication skills
– refine and create metrics for the program, coordinate with the teams
– working closely with Business Continuity team
– at least one of the following — MBCP, CBCP, C/DRE or CBCM certification
 
Job Description:
 
The Disaster Recovery Specialist will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a Disaster Recovery Program to include disaster recovery planning, testing and ongoing process improvement. The individual will support all activities necessary to enable the organization and its subsidiaries to respond to a technology interruption and will support the lines of business in developing a disaster recovery related contingency planning while unifying technical resources in the event of service disruptions or operational risks.
 
You will be accountable to:
  • Develop and oversee a Disaster Recovery (DR) program for the organization and leads the development of DR plans for its various critical assets. Coordinate with technical units and application owners dedicated to DR to ensure procedures and configurations are maintained and updated
  • Serves as project manager and first point of contact to ensure Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are achievable and realized
  • Participates and serves as a resource in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines for IT system recovery plans, and crisis management
  • Maintain the organization's Disaster Recovery project plans and failover procedures. Identify areas where existing DR policies and procedures may require change or where new ones may need to be developed
  • Coordinates DR testing, including the scheduling, execution, monitoring and review of DR tests
  • Ensures configuration changes made at the primary data center are appropriately replicated to the backup data center, including procedures, hardware, network equipment, software and data
  • Stay current on technology focused DR professional practices and industry trends to continually develop and maintain a resilient DR plan
Your experience includes:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Disaster Recovery and/or Business Continuity in a Technology setting
  • Experience in IT network/data center operations or similar background, with a working technical knowledge of current systems software, hardware and network standards at an architectural level
  • MBCP, CBCP, C/DRE or CBCM certification
  • Basic knowledge and application of IT DR and Information Security Professional Standards and Guidelines
  • An extensive background in successful DR services/implementations and large-scale DR testing event planning experience
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning software
  • Expertise in performing both risk and impact analyses
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
