ABC – GM R/S233 Interior Garnish Trim Product Design Support: 8 Sr. Product Designers

 Project: Product Engineering Support

 

 Start of Project: Immediate

Duration: 12+ months full time (40 hours per week with potential for up to 20% OT)

 

Staffing Needs:

 1 Sr. Product Engineer or equivalent with expert level knowledge of all aspects of wrapping Interior automotive parts (design needs, manufacturing & tooling needs,…) using natural or synthetic materials (EST day shift). Preferred support location is Toronto or Detroit; however other locations will be considered for the ideal candidate

 

 

 Scope of Work:

 

Provide Product Engineering support for the successful design/development and production startup of wrapped interior automotive parts and activities noted below:

 

1. Product Engineering

a. Utilize their expert level knowledge to provide development leadership in the area of wrapping

b. Collaborate effectively on an ongoing basis with the Client Engineering team. Reporting to the assigned Client Program Manager or designate.

c. Support design reviews with Client Toronto and Detroit based engineering team as required

 

2. Location & hours of work

a. Product Engineer could be co-located at Client or remotely at design service providers site; site to ensure full confidentiality of all aspects of product development work assigned

b. Working hours will enable daily direct collaboration with Client engineering team (EST day shift), OEM engineering team (where required) and allow delivery of engineering direction meeting Client /OEM timing needs

c. Client engineering team to be provided with direct access to allow collaboration with the Product Engineer who will have advanced Technical English communication skills.

 

3. Exchange of Information

a. All incremental/modified information needed to support development is to be provided to Client on a daily basis; unless otherwise directed by Client Engineering

b. Where applicable math data to be downloaded / uploaded using Client FTP system; suppliers data infrastructure must support high speed fibre optic data transmission at all global sites where development work is being completed. Utilization of supplier’s data transfer system may be possible after a security review is completed by Client IT department.

c. Development information with revision control are to be data banked daily to Client Group Tech Centre

 

4. Approval for release & communication

a. All information releases to the OEM are to be pre-approved by Client Interior Engineering team or their designate following Client protocols

b. Client engineering team to lead all project communication activities with OEM

 

5. Revision tracking and Design Control

a. All information transfers to Client or OEM Product Design teams will include a summary file (PowerPoint or equivalent) capturing the changes to be implemented

 

b. Client  accessed via remote tablet (provided by client ) to be utilized for creation of design control sheets (DCS), processing of design checking form (DCF) and logging of engineering hours [implementation date TBD and may be waived at the discretion of client on a project by project basis.

 

6. Invoicing

a. Client standard payment terms are Net60 days

b. All invoices are to be accompanied by a detailed hourly time sheet or match client logged hours on projects where direct logging is being utilized
